After its LEAD2018 conference in Salt Lake City, HR.com hosted what was comparable to “Shark Tank” for HR startups last week.
Fourteen CEOs stood tall and pitched their startups in front of 18 top HR influencers. Why pitch to the influencers? Not only are they HR curators, but they also help promote vendor options to HR departments.
The CEOs each delivered a 20-minute presentation, followed by 10 minutes of answering questions from the influencers. The companies represented included:
As the CEOs passionately presented their cutting-edge technologies, the energy in the room was incredible. Influencers paid close attention to the presentations, which were based on topics such as leadership, advocacy, AI recruiting, employee engagement, and learning management.
I thoroughly enjoyed the dedicated time to meet with the CEOs, as clearly did my fellow influencers, who included:

Always a treat to hear Dr Marshall Goldsmith speak about Letting Go!
Thanks to HR.com’s Sue Morton, the quarterback behind this event, for ensuring that each of us was provided with each CEO’s contact information and product elevator pitch.
The goal of the program was to make the influencer panelists aware of these CEOs’ HR space startups. Given that, like me, many of the influencers are now working with these CEOs trying to help their companies grow, it’s clear the event was a success. The best way to say it is “They Nailed IT.”
